San Antonio, Waco, Galveston, Dallas are on Lockdown and More Texas Cities are Expected to Follow to Stem the Spread of the Coronavirus

Several Texas cities and counties have now issued stay at home/shelter in place orders to Texas citizens.

On Monday, San Antonio’s Mayor Ron Nirenberg and Bexar County Judge Nelson Wolff both issued “Stay Home/Stay Safe” orders for all of San Antonio and Bexar County.

The orders are effective at midnight on March 24th and if approved by the City Council at Thursday’s meeting, it will last until midnight on April 9th or until it is either rescinded, superseded or amended.

Under the order “all individuals should remain home, except for when securing healthcare, purchasing food and basic supplies, exercising outdoors, or working to provide these basic services to the public. And all public and private gatherings consisting of anyone other than a person’s own household or family are prohibited.”

“As you know, and as we expected, the number of positive cases is growing. We need to take additional steps now to slow the spread. The actions I announced today can be summed up as short-term pain in exchange for long term benefit,” San Antonio Mayor Nirenberg said in a news release.
